Counselor Role/Philosophy Statement
The role of a school counselor is to work alongside administrators, teachers, staff, students, parents, and the community to design, put in place, and assess a Comprehensive School Counseling Program. The program should contain a guidance curriculum, assistance for students who are dealing with external circumstances that puts them at risk, opportunities to meet with individual students to help direct their path, and a structure that is put in place to help teachers and other stakeholders assist the students. A school counselor is also an adviser, the person who ensures that appropriate resources are distributed to students, a person who helps evaluate data and creates plans after reviewing the data, and someone to help with conflict resolution.
My philosophy is with help every person has the ability to grow, learn and become a better version of themselves. We are all a work in progress. My goal is to encourage each student I come in contact with to be the best they can be. I will do my part by helping them to gain the academic, social, emotional, and career related skills they need to be a contributing member of society.
