Comprehensive School Counseling Program

A Comprehensive School Counseling Program creates an environment where the school counselor works with other stakeholders to focus on meeting the academic, social, emotional, and career related needs of all students regardless of race, gender, socioeconomic factors, and/or disability. Academic expectations for students are rigorous and not all students are able to meet the high expectation until other areas of their lives are healthy. A Comprehensive School Counseling Program looks at data to determine the needs of the population, offers counseling services that are proactive rather than reactive, provides one-on-one and group counseling for students, and has a guidance curriculum in place.
